So, it's been a whole year already! Around this time last year I was at at Replay Expo (now Play Expo), my first games expo with Kaivallone
with my first handmade Link costume, so I was really pleased to have been able to wear the improved version for this event.
This time I went with Kai again, as well as Matthew who was kind enough to put us up at his house for the weekend. We had just as much fun there as we did at the expo!
I'm still beaming from the weekend, it's been an unforgettable and extraordinary couple of days and it was just what I needed!
Play remains my favourite expo and it makes me rather sad that we don't have more events like this! I'd certainly like to see quite a few people and partners more often than once a year, but ah well!
With it being a local con a lot of my friends were there, and I was lucky enough to run into a number of the cosplayers from last year's Replay, so it was great being re-united with and spending some time with everyone that I haven't seen for so long.
Like with most cons I procrastinated like hell and ended up finishing my costume the day before, so I almost
didn't end up going as Link, which would have been baaaad!
I really need to stop doing that
It's still pretty early after the con so I don't have as many pictures at my disposal as I would have liked, but here we go anyway:
After picking up my ID badge, I started the day out as Primo and spent quite a while on the cosplay desk signing people up for the cosplay competition, so I got to chat with most of the cosplayers who wandered by and was able to drool over all their costumes.
I'd already shopped around and bought things before doors had opened, so it wasn't too bad to sit around, since I had a good view of the cosplay stage and the panels being run on it.
I gots me some lovely phone charms and stickers from the wonderful tavington
's stall although the highlight of the day has to be Kaivallone
buying a print for me as well as a FREAKING LINK ON EPONA FIGURE.
just give me a minute while I collect my feels...
At some point we ran into a Gokudera and his friends, who were supposed to come as KHR characters
which was pretty damn epic because other than ewonka
I've never personally run into another KHR cosplayer outside of my group of friends. Needless to say, we clung to them for the rest of the day.
Half way through the day I changed into Hibari, mostly for comfort, but also because I really like Hibari.
and so I could bully Dino
Then I continued to derp with my old and new found friends.
In the evening we went for KFC because it's not a con without chicken
and waited impatiently for the second day.
Onto day two and I had the pleasure of cosplaying with the amazing magical-pantsu
as my Zelda <3
We entered the masquerade together and placed third! Not to mention, we ran into and adorable little OOT Princess Zelda, who we spent quite a bit of time with through-out the day, as well as with our Dark Link.
I'd managed to get into the Wii U section in the morning before any staff members turned up, and later we got to cut the queue and play the games because they wanted pictures of us in costume on the consoles!
I wanted a Wii U before, and now that I've actually tried one out I'm dying to own one. /nintendofangirling/ it was tonnes of fun to play with the other Zelda cosplayers on Nintendo Land and Mario!
Oh, and Kai of course had to try and snap a photo from the entrance anyway.
It was also pretty amazing to be recognised by some of the previous years attendees and even better to see the ones I'd spent time with the year before although I still managed to miss a few people orz
and I even had a few people letting me know they'd seen me in the video on the website, haha!
Finally we gave in and bought the expensive, but very tasty cakes from the Amazing Cake Co, and had no problem at all eating our hero :3
We also bagged some nice free t-shirts from the lovely lads at RetroCollect
and even a free cake
and wrapped the day up by buying my first print from Cosplay Portrait. All in all, an epic end to the weekend, which left me even more depressed than last year that it had to end...
Of course, I could go on about so much more, but I'd be here all day, so for now I'm going to leave it at that, while I continue to hunt down pictures and just fangasm over what an amazing weekend it's been.
Sooo, you can expect to see lots of photos coming your way once I've got my hands on them. We didn't get quite as many as I would have liked, and the area wasn't really the best for photos, but we still got a few decent ones, and we're hoping to get a lot more at the next con.
Until then, please enjoy this photo of almost
all the cosplayers who attended on Sunday, and if you really can't wait, you'll be able to see more photos on Facebook
ROLL ON LONDON!
